The Fashion History Book Club is an LA based, globally minded community of fashion nerds learning about the history of fashion together in person and online.
The List
Our core, debut list has been curated by our fashion historian founders with community input to give a 12 month survey of unique fashion history perspectives that range from American fashion to questions of celebrity, sustainability, and fashion in pop culture. It explores the language of fashion while diving into some important figures and concepts. The idea is one book a month for one year, but we’re going to be putting out some curated niche lists as well!
The Meetups
Based in LA, we’ll be kicking off The Fashion History Book Club with meetups out here, but with founders on both coasts we’ll be looking to expand to other cities as we grow our community of fashion nerds far and wide.
Meetups won’t just be the monthly book-focused meeting but will include author talks, topical round table discussions and more as we can make it happen!
The Community
The Fashion History Book Club was created with the idea that a lot of us fashion nerds need community more than we need “the industry.” This community isn’t about exclusionary events, but empowering solutions for fashion nerds to create connection and share resources. As we grow, we want to create an online and IRL depository for commentary, scholarship, resource-sharing and learning about the history of fashion with each other.
